ERR

Temperature Sensor Failure

The system has lost connection with the thermistor probe.

DIY FIX: Try unplugging and re-plugging the sensor from the ceiling and the main control box to clear contact corrosion. If it persists, the sensor is defective.

Target Temperature Reached

Not a fault. Normal operational indicator.

STATUS: This indicates the sauna has reached your preset temperature. The heaters have automatically shut off to maintain heat. Once the temperature drops 2-3 degrees, the heaters will kick back on.

Incomplete / Glitched Display

LCD segments are missing or flashing erratically.

DIY FIX: This points to a damaged panel logic board or a faulty data cable. Try re-seating the control panel cable. If the display is still incomplete, the panel or the entire control system needs replacement.

Negative Temp Reading

The display shows an impossible negative temperature.

DIY FIX: This is a classic sign of a loose or damaged temperature probe. Check the wiring for pinches or loose pins. Re-plug the probe; if the reading doesn't normalize, the probe has failed.

Beyond the Code:
How to Visually Confirm a Dead Control Box

Sometimes the display remains dark, and no error code is there to guide you. If your sauna is unresponsive, it's time to open the "brain" of the unit—the main control box (usually located on the roof or under the bench).

1 The "Sniff Test" (The Smell of Failure)

Electronic components like Relays and Transformers release a distinct, acrid "metallic" smell when they overheat. If you open the box and smell burnt ozone or scorched plastic, the logic gates have likely fused. At this point, even if the sauna occasionally works, it is a significant fire hazard.

2 Look for "Puffed" Capacitors

Inspect the cylindrical components (capacitors) on the PCB. The tops should be perfectly flat. If any are bulging, domed, or leaking a crusty residue, they have failed. This is common in saunas older than 5 years due to constant heat expansion and contraction.

3 Terminal Block Scorching

Check where the heater wires plug into the control box. Infrared saunas pull high amperage (up to 15-20A). Over time, loose connections create resistance, leading to black carbon marks on the plastic housing. If you see melting around the heater ports, the board's internal traces are likely damaged beyond repair.

Verdict: Replace or Repair?

"Don't put a new sensor on a burnt board."

If you see any of these physical signs, replacing individual sensors or cables won't solve the issue. Our Universal Retrofit Kit replaces the entire internal brain of your sauna with industrial-grade components.
